6th RAMS/BRAMS/OLAM International Users Workshop

10 - 12 May 2006

 Ubatuba, Brazil

The 6th RAMS Workshop, now designated the RAMS/BRAMS/OLAM Workshop, will be held in the city of Ubatuba, Brazil from 10 May to 12 May 2006. The purpose of this workshop is to present new developments in RAMS, BRAMS (a Brazilian development of RAMS tailored to the tropics), and the global version, OLAM, for various applications ranging microscale meteorology to global climate. Presentations concerning similar modeling systems are acceptable as long as they show relations/comparisons with RAMS, BRAMS, and/or OLAM. Model development related to atmospheric chemistry and air quality, oceanographic and ecological modeling and applications are strongly encouraged.

Topics of focus

  • Atmospheric modeling on continuous scale
  • New RAMS, BRAMS, and OLAM developments
  • Regional and global climate modeling
  • Air quality/dispersion-related applications
  • Parameterization of surface and cloud processes
  • Integrated systems for atmospheric and marine environments
  • Extreme weather and natural disasters
  • Computational aspects, effiency, parallelism
  • RAMS, BRAMS, OLAM, and similar models intercomparion studies
  • Definition of the needs for further RAMS, BRAMS, and OLAM development

Each topic will be introduced by an invited key-note lecture. Posters and video presentations are also accepted for all the topics.

Abstracts for presentations

The abstract deadline has been extended until 20 April !!!

If you wish to make an oral, poster, or video presentation at the workshop, please send an abstract (200 words or less) by email to me by 31 March 2006. Please include the type of presentation you would like to give (oral, poster, video, etc.) and any special audio-visual requirements that you may require. We will post the abstracts on our web site later. The abstracts can be in OpenOffice.org, PDF, Microsoft Word, or plain text formats.

Workshop Location

Itamambuca Eco Resort, Ubatuba, Brazil (http://www.itamambuca.com.br)

This natural sanctuary shelters around 250 species of native birds such as woodpeckers, toucans, and hummingbirds. It is also easy to find sylvan animals of unique beauty: armadillos, squirrels, and lizards move peacefully in the hotel surroundings.

See the registration form for hotel details.

Workshop fees

Workshop fees will be 300 US$ per participant for non-Brazilians and R$300,00 for Brazilians.

Registration

Registration for non-Brazilians.
